Blue light dangerous?

From time to time articles appear in the media about the potential risk to human health after exposure to blue artificial light. A distinction must be made between the possible effects on the retina on the one hand and the effects on circadian rhythm disturbance or sleep disorders on the other. These are two essentially different effects.

Humans are diurnal and need blue light of a specific bandwidth to control the circadian rhythm. This is crucial for the sleep / wake rhythm and the regulation of the substance change. Blue light within the 460-480 nm spectrum regulates this. Below 440nm, blue light can be harmful to the retina. Propeaq works exclusively in the effective spectrum that is generally also considered safe from various scientific studies. The light glasses have an extremely low light intensity and only need to be applied for 30 minutes a day.

The Internationale de lโ€™ร‰clairage Commission, more internationally known as the International Commission on Illumination, is the international authority in terms of light, light sources, color and color space. The CIE Central Office is based in Vienna and established in 1913.
